Kicking Ash

I have smoked for 23 years. This is not something that I am proud of and if I could tell my 13 year old self to never pick up a cigarette, I would. I have tried a lot of different methods to quit but I really enjoy smoking. At least I think I do and I don't especially want to quit but it is way past time that I do.

I always wished that I could be one of those people that was a "social smoker", those people that only smoke when they drink or pick up a pack for a weekend and not touch a cigarette for another 6 months or more. I don't know how they do it!

My husband quit a couple years ago, most of our friends have quit and I am in the minority now. I actually feel like an outcast when I go to have a cigarette. UHG! I do not enjoy the coughing, wheezing, morning loogie, grovely voice, stinky breath & clothes, ashtray mess or any of the other unsavory things that go along with smoking.

This lent (February 2014) I decided that I was going to give up smoking. I thought that I would trick myself by telling myself that I was not quitting, just giving it up for 40 days.

Day one went alright, I kept myself busy all day to keep my mind off of cigarettes. It seemed to work and I felt good about it. On day one I had cleaned the house, painted, did laundry, went grocery shopping, cooked, baked, and worked.

Day two, I didn't know what to do with myself. I did so much on day one that I didn't have much to do! I did have some work to do but that wasn't keeping me occupied enough, as a matter of fact, I think it was making things worse. My clients were getting on my nerves and I had to redo so many things because I couldn't concentrate. I became extremely crabby to say the least. My husband suggested that I get an e-cig. I didn't think of that, was it cheating? I thought about it a minute and decided that it really wasn't any different that using the patch, or gum. He bought me a disposable NJoy on his way home from work. It definitely helped!

Trading Smoke for Vapor

I was intrigued. The NJoy was good. It conquered my cravings, gave me the illusion of smoking and I was in a much better mood. I decided to try another, the V2Cig. My husband bought a rechargable V2Cig for me to try. Not bad, it was damn close to a real draw off a cigarette. It killed the cravings, lasted longer than the disposable NJoy, and gave me a good hit to the back of the throat and feel in the lungs. Problem was, it was heavy, awkward, and did not taste very good.

I felt there had to be a better option so I began researching. I used my V2Cig and NJoy disposables for about a week until I found Green Smoke. After looking for "the best e-cig" I believe I found it. I decided upon Green Smoke because it had really great reviews (with current and former smokers) everywhere I went and made it's place in the top ten on almost every site I visited. Besides that, Green Smoke offers Free Shipping both ways and a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. I couldn't lose!

Green Smoke e-Cig Ultimate KitI ordered up the Pro Kit. In two days I received it. TWO DAYS! I ordered it Tuesday morning and had it at 11:00 AM on Thursday. That was using the free shipping option! The Pro Kit seemed like the most economical option. I customized my kit. (There is a link that says "Click here to customize" people get pissed when they miss that so look for it if you want to customize yours.) If you don't customize your kit they will send you "the most popular" options.

The Pro Kit included:

  • 2 long-lasting Batteries (I chose 1 Short Glows Green and 1 Short Glows Red)
  • 10 Flavored Cartridges (I chose 2- 5-Flavor Variety Packs)
  • 1 USB Cigarette
  • 1 USB Charger
  • Home and Car Adapters
  • Carrying Case (I chose Black)

Why am I spouting off about Green Smoke?

I love Green Smoke e-Cigs. I really do. I have no urge to go back to traditional cigarettes. Green Smoke e-Cigs are cheaper, and allow me all the things that I find to be great about smoking without all of the things that aren't so great (stink, loogies, coughing, etc). I plan to try to wean my nicotine down using Green Smoke but this is not meant to be a smoking cessation product. We'll see how that works out for me. It has been about 4 weeks and I have been around many smokers, gone out drinking (BFF's 40th Birthday), and still I have not had the urge to pick up a traditional smoke. As a matter of fact, I got to stay inside of the warm, cozy bar and "puff away" as my smoker friends all had to freeze their tukus outside! I believe it was about 28 degrees that night.

But Isn't Vaping Just as Bad as Smoking?

You injest addictive nicotine when you vape but, you would have to ingest a lot of liquid nicotine to get poisoned. You do not injest the countless other chemicals that traditional cigarettes contain. There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous.*. Cigarettes and e-Cigarettes are really not the same. Nicotine is the only ingredient found in both traditional cigarettes and e-cigarettes. Nicotine is not one of the harm-inducing ingredients associated with lung cancer in smokers. The other ingredients in the "e-juice" at the core of e-cigarettes are propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and food flavorings— all of which are used in food products. Finally, e-cigarettes aren’t believed to pose a second-hand smoke hazard to people and don’t have the hazards of tar-tobacco sticks. So what do you think? Is vaping just as bad as smoking? I hardly think so, but that is just my opinion.

Why I Recommend Green Smoke E-Cigarettes for Smokers

As a former smoker myself (yep, I said former!), I am satisfied with the Green Smoke e-Cig. Like I said earlier in this post, I have no urge for a traditional cigarette. The thickness of the vapor, the feeling in your lungs and the size and weight of the e-cig are all comprable to a cigarette. There is some give and take for smokers with every e-cig and I have found Green Smoke to be the closest to "the real thing". Overall the cig itself is a tad larger and heavier than a traditional cigarette but, if you can overcome the weight, length, and girth of the e-cig you just might not look back.

Vanilla Cigarettes???

I'm a hardcore smoker. I do this because I am addicted. What kind of pansy smokes a vanilla flavored cigarette? I do. OMG! The mocha mist is my fave! The flavors are great, I really didn't think that I would want a vanilla, mocha, or chocolate flavored cigarette but I ordered the variety pack to try them out and I love them. I still order the traditional tobacco flavors for sure but I sneak in a flavor every once in a while for a change. I never was a menthol smoker and I don't particularly like the Menthol Ice™ but my BFF who is a strict menthol smoker loved the Menthol Ice™ Green Smoke (I let her try the mocha and she liked that too). I would suggest to order the variety pack and give the flavors a try, you just might realize that you are a pansy that would like to smoke a vanilla flavored cigarette every once in a while. Wink

Am I Receiving Payment for this Post?

NO. I am not an affiliate of Green Smoke. I created this post because of what this e-Cig has done for me personally and how much I really do love it and recommend it to others. I believe in this product and I think it is a terrific alternative for smokers. It's like I never quit!

I DO receive a kickback for referring others to Green Smoke and if you purchase, so will you! You also receive $10 off a purchase of $50 or more by using this link. Sweet eh?
